California family wins $8m after neighbour calls autistic boy ‘public nuisance’

A California family has won $8 million after a neighbour sued them over the backyard noises made by their autistic son, calling him a public nuisance. The family’s lawyers said the boy was never left unsupervised. The mother also claimed the dispute forced them to leave their rental home despite facing higher rent elsewhere.
