Florida restored parts of the Gulf of Mexico by returning more than 500,000 tonnes of recycled oyster and clam shells to the sea between 2007 and 2024. The shells helped rebuild oyster reefs, improve water quality and support the return of fish, turtles and dolphins to levels not seen in over 25 years.
