HC denies Vinesh Phogat entry to Worlds trials: ‘Not inclined to grant exemption’

The Delhi High Court has denied Vinesh Phogat an interim exemption to participate in the selection trials for the 2026 Senior World Championships. The court emphasised the need for uniform eligibility criteria applicable to all athletes. Although Phogat’s maternity challenges will be assessed in terms of policy validity, the court has ruled against granting interim relief, thus barring her participation in the trials.
