New research challenges the long-held view of lion and hyena interactions. Hyenas typically retreat from lions, while male lions often approach and follow them. This study used GPS collars and direct observations to track these carnivores. The findings suggest an asymmetric relationship between the two competing species. These movement patterns may help lions and hyenas share the same landscape.
