IIT-B puts on hold 2026 rules on tough penalties for cheating

IIT-Bombay’s senate has halted new penalties for academic misconduct, reverting to the 2015 policy for upcoming examinations. This decision follows the recent death of a student suspected of cheating during an exam. An interim procedure allows faculty to document suspected dishonesty while encouraging student accounts on a separate form. Faculty members and students will present their cases before a disciplinary committee after the examination period.
