LPU students protest, block highway, set objects on fire over unverified rape report

Students at Lovely Professional University protested over alleged rumors of a rape incident on campus. They damaged property and blocked the Jalandhar-Phagwara national highway during their demonstration. Police stated that the claims were unfounded and reported no such crime. A heavy police presence was deployed to control the situation and address students’ grievances. This unrest followed a separate protest at Chitkara University regarding claims of student suicides.
