Northeast faces new vector threat as diseases spread to new areas: Health panel

In Northeast India, urbanization and climate change are driving a rise in vector-borne illnesses. There has been a significant uptick in dengue infections, and chikungunya is also on the rise. While malaria’s prevalence is lessening at a national level, Japanese encephalitis continues to pose risks. The recommendation is for implementing innovative surveillance methods and targeted intervention measures, particularly to fill information voids affecting diverse populations.
