Prove you are Indian, Calcutta HC tells SIR-deleted ‘Bangladeshi’

The Calcutta High Court has rejected a woman’s request concerning her husband’s potential deportation over absent identification documents. The court expressed concerns about the husband’s capability to demonstrate his Indian nationality during ongoing investigations. Detained since August 31 on suspicions of illegal immigration from Bangladesh, his legal team contends that the detention is unjustified, as he has not been formally charged. Authorities have mandated the submission of his citizenship documentation.
