Queens bucks the trend: New apartments grow bigger despite NYC’s space crunch

Queens saw new apartments increase in size over the last decade. This growth outpaced the national average for apartment size gains. Brooklyn and Manhattan apartments, however, became smaller during this same period. Developers in high-demand areas often prioritize smaller units for more availability. The average US apartment size has increased overall, but Queens remains smaller.
