‘Ran towards ballroom’: Volunteer recalls WH gunman assembled ‘long weapon’ in ‘makeshift room’

A White House Correspondents’ Dinner volunteer reported the suspected gunman assembled a “long weapon” in an unsecured area near a terrace entrance before the attack. The suspect then moved toward the ballroom, firing shots and causing panic among guests and staff. The gunman, identified as Cole Allen, was arrested after allegedly entering the Washington Hilton hotel.
