US senators want Apple’s Chinese chip plan dead, in every country it sells in

A bipartisan group of US senators led by Chuck Schumer and Jim Banks has written to Apple CEO Tim Cook, urging Apple to abandon plans to buy memory chips from Chinese suppliers CXMT and YMTC. The letter, which sets an August 21 deadline, lands as the global memory chip shortage pushes DRAM prices up and forces Apple to raise MacBook and iPad prices.
