‘Worse than Jallianwala Bagh,’ says Bengal report on firing on Mamata-led rally in 1993

A commission report on the 1993 police firing was tabled in the assembly. The report stated the firing was unnecessary and worse than Jallianwala Bagh. Compensation of Rs 25 lakh was recommended for each bereaved family. The Chief Minister announced the government would provide this compensation. The commission also indicted several IPS officers for their role.
